Why Use the Internet For Your Business?

Yesterday I went to a seminar under the title: “Why use the Internet for your business”. This seminar was held to participants of the Back to Work Enterprise Scheme. So some of the small,  local entrepreneurs, like builders, curtain makers etc., came to hear about why they should use the Internet as a marketing tool. To my surprise when it started it was about how to design and maintain a website. It went to some depth into the matter of google keywords, titles and so on. All the time I was wondering, what does this help someone who just tries to convince themselves to go on the journey into the Internet. I for one would be scared and worry about the time and expertise you need to have or worse you have to buy to go on that journey.

So now why should a small local Donegal business go on to the Internet especially in times like this ?

A website gives the small business the opportunity to have their products and/or services visible 24 hours a day in a cost effective way. More and more people have access to the Internet and in recession times like today no business can afford to let contact opportunities to customers pass by.
This is especially true if you are working in a specialist or niche market.

A website gives your potential and current customers the opporunity to find your contact details even when you don’t sell anything on the internet and want to just inform about your products/services. Selling on the internet directly should be the second step after you have established your website.

Just as a start you can have a small website with some or all of the following information:

  • who you are
  • what you do, make or sell
  • how to contact you
  • where you are located
  • when you are open
  • your complete and detailed product and service catalogue
  • your current price list
  • your business policies
  • your term and conditions of business
  • downloadable versions of your product and service leaflets

If you are a small business and want to see how much it costs to have a website contact Donegal Connect Web Design.
